Environmental campaigns for children
Veolia Environment Group, which is the parent company of Dalkia Group, treats environmental protection as a priority issue. Their researches are making continuous efforts to find innovative solutions furthering the protection of the environment. Further, in its communication policy, the group lays great emphasis on educating children in order to foster the environmental awareness of the new generation.
In 2004, the group organized its first international environmental drawing competition entitled “Scrolls around the Earth” in the spirit of this. Children drew messages related to environmental protection on a 25 m long papyrus scroll that traveled around the world, reaching 24 towns across 4 continents. Following this successful campaign, Veolia announced similar large-scale competitions in each year dealing with environmental protection, the protection of health and sustainable development. Children aged 8-11 years were invited to participate in competitions called “Streamers around the Word” in 2005, “Sketches around the World” in 2006 and “Tales around the World” in 2007.
In 2008, Veolia Environment announced its fifth environmental competition entitled “Cities around the World”. In this campaign, children were asked to present what their cities would tell about their current environmental condition, development possibilities and dreams. After introducing the current situation, children depicted the image of a future town capable of living in harmony with both the Earth and its people, thereby creating the opportunity for a better future respecting environmental and natural values.
